Handstands
Have you ever seen someone in a yoga class magically fly up into a handstand and wish you could too but didn't know where to start? Has it ever felt intimidating to you? Handstands can be scary and exciting all at once, but it's not just "magic" ;)
With proper technique, consistency and a willingness to seriously play, Nicole's workshop will show you the "magic" everyone beholds! This workshop begins with warm-ups as preparation, followed by the breakdown of alignment foundations, variations and transitions of handstands. With the aid of partner spotting, wall drills, personalized feedback and adjustments from Nicole, you will learn how to safely begin or continue your handstand practice so that you can then leave feeling confident to add these poses into the classes you attend or at home.
Whether you’re brand new to upside down playtime or are already comfortable on your hands, this workshop is for you! Modifications and progressions are always offered.
Together we’ll work on both strengthening and opening the body to prepare to go upside down, but more importantly we’ll also be in the practice of overcoming any fear with hand balancing. Handstands help us build patience, confidence, playfulness and trust.
What you will learn:
-how to kick up up into a handstand (L-shape, stag legged etc)
-how to hop up into a handstand (tuck jump, straddle jump, pike jump)
-drills & technique for handstand press (puppy, straddle, pike)
-handstand transitions (handstand to chaturunga, to warrior 1 etc)
-handstand leg variations (scorpion, eagle legs, split legs)
(workshop difficulty level is adjusted to the level of the students attending)
**Please note: workshops are non-refundable.
